About Me
If you already know me personally, you know I don’t easily fit into a predictable mold. Like you, I must live (and seek to thrive) in the same rapidly-changing world. Things are NOT what they were! Right? Although chaotic and unpredictable, I seek to be consistent, honest, clear, and at peace, managing an independent way of thinking. Grace and gratitude go a very long way. In my world view, which is always being refined, I’m as much a practical rationalist as I am a conservative biblicist. The journey continues.
I really love meeting new people and learning new things. I’m continually astounded that there’s so much I don’t know! Feels like I’m just getting started. And then, there’s all the beauty—a good place to focus one’s attention nowadays, as opposed to all that isn’t beautiful. Which is plenty. I strongly value free speech, the free (and courteous) exchange of ideas, and freedom of conscience. I seek to be consistently compassionate and thoughtful, maintaining a playful sense of humor, coupled with a genuinely loving heart, and (thankfully) a soul overflowing with curiosity and creativity. I’m a communicator, a problem-solver, a deep-thinker, a tenacious researcher, writer, painter, visual designer, and some say, a reasonably good photographer (with my smartphone of course). I am also a bit of a poet, a singer and a novice guitar player. There’s a reason I don’t have a record contract.
Fascinated with the historical timeline of the Bible, I am also quite interested in the chronology, history, archaeology and geography of the primary biblical lands (Israel, Jordan, Sinai, Northern Egypt) with a special emphasis on the long and storied history of Jerusalem. Even with a negotiated limit on shelf-space, my library shelves are filled with the best volumes informing this category. I’ve written articles directly associated with biblical lands topics, published in The Prophecy Watcher magazine. All of my articles can be found (and downloaded) at my public Academia.edu page. I’ve also had the privilege of leading tours to Israel and Jordan, which I hope continues, as it allows me to directly share what I’ve learned in my research. I published my first book, The Redemption Corridor in 2022, there is a description here. More books are in the planning stages.
I am also VERY attracted to being out in wilderness - especially mountains and deserts. I have great affection for southern Brewster County in far West Texas, especially Big Bend National Park, where I had the privilege of living and working for 3 years in another lifetime.
This website is principally a growing blog addressing all of these topics and more, so stay tuned, if you like, and please share any comments you might have, associated with my blog posts. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again for stopping by!
